WASHI
is a kind of paper with a long tradition in Japanese architecture. It has been used for centuries for sliding doors and window covering. The patented yarn we are using starts with a strip of this paper, one mm wide and 600 m long.
The micro structure of a washi fibre is similar to that of active coal. Itis therefore antibacterial and transports heat and humidity extremely fast.
This strip is then twisted around a filament of recycled polyester to give it the strength and elasticity it takes for knitting.
